5 Spring Dress Trends We’ll Be Wearing All Season Long—and 5 We’re Leaving Behind

While animal print is always on trend, the past few seasons have seen several in particular take over. Last spring leopard print was everywhere. This year expect to see things get even wilder with zebra, reptile, and cow prints all on the rise.

As for styling animal-print dresses, one hack is to keep the rest of the look monochrome. Neutral earth tones or basic blacks are the way to go for a more minimalist look. For the maximalists, however, go all out with opulent jewelry, bright red accessories, and XXL sunglasses.

It’ll be harder to find neon dresses this spring and summer when shopping, as they’re currently on the outs in the trend cycle.

The denim dress is another wardrobe basic that we’re having a new appreciation for this season. Available in a wide variety of styles, it’s a classic that works with just about any outfit combination. A midi version in a darker wash is totally appropriate for the office, especially when paired with a button-down shirt. Strapless mini or maxi denim dresses work for a night out when styled with knee-high boots, while sneakers and a looser fit will quickly become your weekend uniform.

Timeless, versatile, and comfortable, the advantage of the denim dress is obvious. From cool shirt dresses to feminine A-line cuts in all lengths, the style really knows no bounds. What’s more, denim dresses come in a variety of washes so there’s truly something to suit every taste.

Less ideal for spring, however? Velvet dresses, a fabric best suited for winter’s colder temps.
