Celebrities weren’t messing around with their Met Gala after party 2024 looks.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s spring 2024 exhibition–Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion—puts a temperature-controlled spotlight on 250 historic garments too fragile ever to be worn again. And last night, at the museum’s annual fundraising gala, hundreds of the world’s most glittering public figures debuted their own looks too delicate to be worn even after the event. Kendall Jenner might have ascended the Met steps in a never-before worn piece of Givenchy-era Lee McQueen, but she soon slipped into a lace Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood corset dress to attend the evening’s after-parties. See also: Emily Ratajkowski, who posed in an autumn/winter 2001 Atelier Versace gown, before changing into an almost-naked dress—also designed by McQueen during his tenure at Givenchy—a few hours later.
