Butter Skin Is the Delicious Makeup Trend For a Glowing Complexion

Glossy, lickable, almost edible complexion trends aren’t exactly new. See: glazed donut skin. But, for 2025 there’s a new food-inspired makeup trend that’s headlining. Get ready for butter skin.

It may not sound right, but turns out it looks so good. We noticed model and influencer, Aisha Potter make a very convincing case for the aesthetic on her Instagram after she uploaded a video fan-girling “makeup that goes on like butter.”

Forget greasy or sticky-looking skin, her video reminded us just how delicious soft, creamy-textured foundations and bronzers can be when they melt and meld into skin to create a healthy, gleaming finish.

Taking cues from glazed skin, which sat right down the most minimal end of the spectrum, butter skin offers up a little more coverage but still allows freckles to shine through with a more medium, buildable finish.

The trend calls for creamy formulas almost exclusively, starting with skin prep. You’ll want to load up your skin with hydrating serums and nourishing moisturizers. As for makeup, Potter shared the exact products she used to create a soft, buttery finish.

She created her base with the Make Up For Ever Hd Skin Hydra Glow Foundation which she mentioned in the comments “honestly [is] my favourite foundation I’ve tried,” explaining “it’s super light on the skin but still gives you that little coverage and glow.” For any additional spots she needed coverage, she used the viral Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer (one of Hailey Bieber’s favorites).

For a little color in her cheeks, Potter tapped on Saie’s Dew Blush (again with a liquid finish), then blended Chanel’s buttery Les Beiges Bronzing Cream across her cheekbones. The only powder product used was Chanel’s Poudre Universelle Libre, a natural finish loose powder she applied tactically just across her T-zone to knock back any unwanted shine.
