Fat Brain Toys has announced a recall of its PlayTab Rollers Tile toys due to a hidden safety issue that could pose a serious risk to young children. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recall was issued on May 15, 2025, because the toy violates federal safety regulations for toy magnets and could come loose, creating a danger if swallowed.
What families need to know
The recall affects approximately 5,100 toys sold in the U.S. and 380 in Canada. The affected products include:
- PlayTab Rollers Tile (sold individually)
- PlayTab Sensory Set 3 (which includes the rollers tile)
These toys were sold between July 2024 and November 2024. They feature blue, red, and green rubberized rollers designed for children to touch, spin, and explore.
Why magnets are a concern
While the toy may appear harmless on the outside, the real risk lies in the small, powerful magnets that can potentially become loose inside the rollers. If a child swallows more than one magnet, they can attract each other—or other metal objects—inside the body. This can lead to serious internal injuries, including:
- Blockages or twists in the intestines
- Perforations
- Blood infections
- In rare cases, death

A gentle reminder on magnet safety
This recall is a reminder of how dangerous small, powerful magnets can be, especially when hidden inside toys for babies and toddlers. Ingesting more than one magnet can quickly escalate into a medical emergency.
While it’s impossible to catch every hazard, inspecting toys regularly and staying informed about recalls are simple but important ways we protect our children every day.
