Vera Zhou’s photoessay ‘How Asians Spend the Night Before Dawn’ captures her social world after dark. At night her friends let loose and relax. Zhou’s photographs show them at house parties and clubs in Hangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing, along with images shot in her hometown of Sichuan during the 2020 pandemic. The photographs originally appeared in the zine AsianHow, which was founded by Zhou in 2024.
