When I say that this black choker necklace on Keke Palmer at the NAACP Image Awards is giving Elizabeth Bathory, I mean that as a compliment of the highest order. In an age when necklaces on the red carpet have gone all but extinct, Palmer came back on February 22 wearing an elaborate, beaded black necklace with a collar that rises all the way up her neck, and a delicate drop pendant landing just above her décolletage. Often, when someone wears a statement piece like this, you’ll see minimal additional jewelry. But instead, Palmer also added large stud earrings and a cocktail ring, with a metallic black manicure to match. The necklace was there to complement Palmer’s structured black minidress, which featured a paneled, almost-corset-style bodice and stiff ruching detail at the hips. She wore her hair, currently a bright copper color, long and straight down her back with a side part. The final touch to her look was a pair of strappy black sandals.
