Kerry Washington's UnPrisoned Season 2: Get an Exclusive Look at the Hulu Series Before It Returns

UnPrisoned, the comedy series starring Kerry Washington and Delroy Lindo, was renewed for season two in February, and now Glamour can exclusively reveal that the second season will premiere on Hulu this summer.

The series—which also counts Kerry Washington as an executive producer—is inspired by creator Tracy McMillan’s life, and follows single mom/relationship therapist/social media influencer, Paige Alexander (Washington), and her dad, Edwin (Lindo), after he gets out of prison and moves in with Paige and his teenage grandson. The original series launched in March 2023 as Onyx Collective’s most-viewed premiere on Hulu.

And now, we can announce that season two will premiere Wednesday, July 17, 2024 on Hulu. The half-hour comedy’s first season consisted of eight episodes, and season two will consist of the same. As a refresher, here’s a look at the season one trailer:

Season one ended with Mal (Marque Richardson) bailing Edwin (Delroy Lindo) out of jail after he was driving home with Finn and was wrongly arrested. As a result of the events, Mal and Edwin have a deep conversation about how Edwin’s past has affected Paige’s (Washington) formative years, including the present. And so, Edwin decides the time has come for him to move out of his daughter’s home so he can start a life on his own.

In an interview with The Wrap timed to the season one finale in April 2023, creator McMillan told the outlet that “[Edwin] knows that as long as the roles are reversed, where his daughter is more like the parent and he’s more like the child, it’s not going to work. I feel like he’s the one who is trying to make things right in the end by not living with her, at least for the time being.”
