Even Club Chalamet, the notoriously fickle Timothée Chalamet fan account, agrees: “Nikki is funny,” the account tweeted, “she made Timothée laugh.”
Whereas previous hosts have taken the Globes’s relaxed reputation and come up with roasts that were more offensive than actually funny, Glaser managed to poke fun at the nominees without crossing any major lines. Even her darkest bits, like when she joked that the after-party wouldn’t be as fun with Stanley Tucci’s olive oil (as opposed to Diddy’s baby oil), hit just the right note.
And, frankly, it was refreshing to hear from someone able to call out some of Hollywood’s sexist double standards. Midway through the show, Glaser joked that when a woman actor over 50, like Pamela Anderson or Demi Moore, is nominated, they call it a comeback. When it’s a male actor over 50, “congratulations, you’re about to play Sydney Sweeney’s boyfriend.”
It almost makes you wish they gave out Golden Globes for hosting the Golden Globes.
