Raffia Bronde Is the Perfect Boho Hair Color for Spring 2025

Boho, hippy vibes are making waves once again after their last peak during the Olsen era of the early aughts. Already raffia bronde is shaping up to be the relaxed cool-girl shade of this summer, bringing with it a laidback, free-spirited feel that we’re so ready for right now.

What is raffia bronde?

Coined by top hair stylist, forecaster, and hairvoyant Tom Smith, the hair trend is a gentle blend of brunette and blonde (a.k.a. bronde), with golden and honey tones that will hit perfectly when the sun finally decides to come out.

Smith describes raffia bronde as “a true bronde, but unlike the monochromatic looks we had in 2024, or the super-high contrast of 2023, this time bronde is a melted and subtly multitonal offering that has a woven texture and an intricate nature. You might call it quite an expensive bronde, thanks to its fine attention to detail.”

But alongside the woven blend of brunette and blonde shades, the texture is also heavily hinted at in the name. It works beautifully with natural, organic textures like waves, curls, and bends. You can really play up individual movement and skip glossy uniformity for a worn-in, messy finish. Then again, it also looks incredible if you prefer a sleeker blow-dry or something more polished.

Who is raffia bronde best for?

The good news is, raffia bronde is kinder on strands than the brighter blondes that have also been trending, since it’s much less reliant on lots of bleaching. Smith says it’s “ideal for those who enjoy mid contrast in their fashion and makeup choices,” adding, “this shade sits in the middle of the color spectrum and it’s easy to evolve throughout the year by brightening it up or toning it down. This is a shade which has longevity.” So if you’re looking for a low-maintenance color with plenty of versatility, this shade understands the assignment.

How to maintain raffia bronde?

As with all hair coloring, it’s important to nourish strands as you go along; this will not only help you maintain the color but preserve the condition, too, which means a healthier, more reflective finish. “Keep hair strong and healthy if oscillating between various levels of bronde,” says Smith. “Be sure to keep heat use minimal, and use nourishing masks and good-quality shampoos to keep the delicate nuances clear and toned.”

How to wear raffia bronde?
