Rose Zhang, Andrea Lee dominate Team Europe; USA holds massive lead at 2024 Solheim Cup

Through two days of play at the 2024 Solheim Cup, the Americans hold a tremendous advantage over their European counterparts, leading 10-to-6 going into Sunday Singles.

The Rose Zhang and Andrea Lee pairing is a big reason why.

Of the 28 holes that Zhang and Lee have played together, they are a combined 20-under-par. They smacked Linn Grant and Charley Hull on Friday afternoon, winning 5 & 4. Then, on Saturday, they dominated again, defeating Grant and Celine Boutier 6 & 4 in afternoon fourballs.

“I think we both played incredible golf today, super solid,” Lee said after her round.

“Whenever I was out of the hole, Rose was there for me, and whenever Rose was out of the hole, I was there for her. We both made a lot of putts and we just had so much fun out there. Just so grateful to have a partner like Rose.”

The two young American stars won their first hole of the day on Saturday and never looked back. It was a dominating performance, as Grant and Boutier had no answers for Lee and Zhang. They closed out the Europeans on the par-5 14th hole, where Zhang made a beautiful eagle three.

“In general, we played so well,” Zhang added.

“We kept each other in it, laughed with each other, and it was just a good time.”

Neither Lee nor Zhang could miss a putt on Saturday. Everything seemed to pour in, leaving Grant feeling helpless for the second straight day against Lee and Zhang. Boutier tried to help remedy the situation for her playing partner, but the Frenchwoman had no answers for the American dominance. Nobody would stop them on Saturday, as this duo has proved to be Captain Stacy Lewis’ most successful pairing. They have given the Americans two points, and neither has lost a match yet. They are also having fun doing so.

“It’s been amazing. I think we have incredible vibes in the team room and on the bus rides home,” Lee added.

“A lot of carpool karaoke and a lot of laughs for sure. I think this team is really special and Stacy has done a good job at keeping us together. It’s pretty chill at the same time and not too serious. She lets us do our own thing. But we just have so much fun with each other, and just so grateful to have this team.”
