Just two hours after confirming her relationship with record producer Benny Blanco, Selena Gomez was on the defensive, arguing with fans on Instagram who didn’t think Blanco, 36, was a good match for the 31-year-old.
“Then why is he the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” Gomez replied after a fan shared their disapproval. “He’s still better than anyone I’ve been with,” she added, seeming to shade all of her exes.

February 14, 2025: Move over, Sonny and Cher. The couple announced a joint album, I Said I Love You First, on Valentine’s Day. Per Gomez’s website, the album will chronicle the couple’s “love story”—from before they met to falling in love to their hopes for the future.
“This album came together organically as a direct result of the comfort that they both felt when working together creatively, allowing them to produce art that authentically reflects their experiences,” reads Gomez’s website, where a CD is available for preorder. “It chronicles their entire story—before they met, falling in love, and looking to what the future holds.”
January 5, 2025: At the 2025 Golden Globes, where Gomez is nominated for her role in Emilia Pérez, host Nikki Glaser subtly roasts Blanco.
“Benny Blanco is here because of the genie that granted him that wish,” she said, referring to his relationship with Gomez. “Man, lucky guy.” Both Gomez and Blanco took it in stride, however.

December 11, 2024: Gomez and Blanco are officially engaged! The Only Murders in the Building star announced the big news on her Instagram, with a carousel of photos from the day. Blanco appears to have popped the question on some kind of sound stage, based on the pictures of Gomez showing off her new marquise diamond beside a Taco Bell picnic. “Forever begins now,” she captioned the post.
