The 2024 Denim Trends We’ll Be Wearing Everywhere This Spring

Jeans will never go out of style, but the way we wear them changes constantly. If you really want to look now, a fresh slate of 2024 denim trends is hitting the streets (and our feeds) this year—and thankfully for all of us, it’s easier than ever to give them a shot. It’s high time to give your wardrobe a little refresh, anyway.

Like last year, wide-leg jeans are holding strong as the reigning silhouette; these days, though, our styling leans more toward ’90s minimalism than ’70s grooviness or Y2K excess. Speaking of the ’90s, that decade’s straight-leg denim is back in a big way, often paired with elevated basics (think tank tops and slim loafers) for a model-off-duty look, à la Hailey Bieber. Feeling a little more adventurous? We’re also all in on white denim, barrel jeans, and dramatic cuffs for the months ahead.

From bedazzled denim to the return of low-rise jeans, these are the 2024 denim trends that you’ll want to wear everywhere this year—plus where to shop them and how to style them with your existing closet.

1. Wide-leg jeans

Even if you made it through last year without a pair of wide-leg jeans in your collection, it’s clear that the silhouette isn’t going away anytime soon—why not embrace it? Learning how to style wide-leg pants is about adopting a less-is-more approach; we love them with slightly more fitted tops and an oversized top layer. (You’re about to get so much mileage out of your spring jackets.) Dip a toe into the look with these not-too-wide picks from Madewell and Abercrombie, two Glamour-editor-beloved denim brands.

2. Cuffed jeans

At every Fashion Week of early 2024, our editors noticed one styling trick on some of each city’s most stylish guests: thick, single-fold cuffs. (Call it cuffing season.) Applied to rigid denim, the result is relaxed yet elegant—and so easy to try at home. Just take any pair of too-long jeans, give it a single roll, and wear it however you would otherwise. And if you’d rather keep the look permanently, Zara and Reformation offer precuffed jeans to make styling as easy as possible.

3. White jeans

Once confined to the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day, white jeans—along with their bone, ecru, and ivory cousins—have become year-round staples. We’re expecting to see more of them than ever in 2024, considering how much they’re popping up in street style. They look great with an earth-tone palette (try a black or brown top to keep things simple and graphic) and with all-white everything (including white T-shirts and matching sneakers).

4. Barrel jeans

Yes, barrel jeans are hard to get right. But when they hit, they hit. The curved, wide-leg silhouette lends an editorial edge to any outfit, making even the simplest pieces in your collection—button-downs, bomber jackets, light cardigans—pop. To offset their extreme volume, keep everything above the waist more fitted, and don’t feel the need to go overboard on layers or accessories. These jeans do all the talking, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

5. Low-slung jeans

If you never want to wear low-rise denim ever again, we understand. (Feel free to skip this section.) But if you’re intrigued by the silhouette’s redemption tour, you’ll be rewarded: Low-slung jeans are—dare we say?—downright chic these days. The key is ignoring their Y2K heyday and instead dressing for now; try shrunken T-shirts, long trenches, and ballet flats to keep things fresh. Better yet, today’s low-waist pants are more akin to midrise jeans than bumsters, so you don’t have to worry about exposing too much skin.

6. Straight-leg jeans

The timeless appeal of straight jeans suits 2024 well, considering we’re still in the grip of back-to-basics minimalism and stealth wealth. They’re a little more relaxed than skinny jeans but more tailored than wider styles, lending themselves to almost any occasion. Dress them down with a denim shirt in a matching wash for brunch; dress them up with a fitted blazer and a white button-down at the office; split the difference with a tank top, gold jewelry, and slingback heels for date night.

7. Embellished jeans

The most fun denim trend of the year takes some of the heat off your accessories. Why not leave the rhinestones, studs, and sequins for your jeans? Our favorite street style has juxtaposed these embellishments with relatively simple pieces like solid blazers, fitted tops, and workwear jackets, preventing a tip into the territory of “too much.” Try the look with subtly studded or bedazzled denim styled with your most humble basics. (And yes, that’s the exact pair of Area jeans Taylor Swift wore to the Super Bowl.)
