After using modern fragrance brand Phlur’s body wash for six months, I took the plunge and ordered a bottle of the brand’s eau de parfum in the same scent, Somebody Wood. As the name infers, it’s an intimate, wintry scent with notes of saffron, cyclamen, sandalwood, moss, vanilla musk, and cedar. Unlike other scents that bill themselves as woodsy, this one is surprisingly subtle. You won’t know I’m approaching from 12 feet away (the only beauty faux pas I subscribe to), and it doesn’t leave a haze of thick musk in its wake. Phlur’s formulation has a particularly lightweight effect that provides just a hint of warmth to the skin and calls to mind a cozy cabin on a cold night. —Perrie Samotin, digital director
