This is how you show up for your postpartum partner: Padsicles

As anyone who has given birth knows, it ain’t no picnic. And neither is the time immediately after you push an entire new human through your vaginal canal (or have it surgically removed through your abdomen, an equally valid and difficult process that also requires significant recovery). This is why padsicles are a thing.

Being postpartum means your body has been through significant work. It has created an entire new person. It has gone through the difficult and painful process of yeeting that person from inside it, out into the world. There is often significant trauma involved in that. 99.9% of the time, your body will be damaged somewhere, somehow.

Anyway, the point is, new moms need rest, love, and TLC. That’s where their partners come in. And in a TikTok video that’s quickly going viral, mom-to-be Ellen Harris is showing us a whole new level of showing up for your partner: padsicles.

Ellen’s wife, understanding the logistics of a woman’s body and the trauma it will need to heal from during the postpartum period, created padsicles for her by covering maxi pads in witch hazel and aloe vera, then freezing them. Not to get too graphic here, but if you have pushed an infant through there, you’re probably imagining how good one of those would feel against your hoo-ha afterward and literally sighing out loud right now. Ellen’s wife for partner of the year, for real.

“I honestly have the best wife ever, she always looks after me and our family,” Ellen wrote in the caption, and we sort of have to agree. In the comments, everyone who’s seen the video is also agreeing — and wondering why anyone is teaming up with men to have children anymore when they could be getting this instead.

“Like why the heck am I marrying a man, because this is so sweet omg,” one commenter wrote.

Ellen responded, “Awww, not going to lie! Having a wife is the best choice I ever made.”

Another viewer weighed in, “Would be extremely shocked if a man ever did this.”

We have to agree, and apparently Ellen too, because she wrote under that comment, “Hahaha fair call,”

So uh, husbands, this is your cue. Watch this video and see how it’s done. Thanks in advance from every women who has ever or will ever give birth.
