The Bodyguard, the 1990s classic starring Whitney Houston, is getting a remake. And some fans want Taylor Swift to play the lead.
According to Deadline, Sam Wrenchâwho directed the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour documentaryâwill helm the project. Naturally, this has led some people to wonder whether or not Swift will star. And if she did, would that mean weâd see her perform âI Will Always Love Youâ (the hit song from the movieâs soundtrack that itself is a cover of the Dolly Parton classic)? Or would she write totally new material for this rendition of the story?
Hereâs everything we do know about The Bodyguard remake.
What is The Bodyguard about?
The film tells the story of famous R&B singer Rachel Marron, played in the original film by Whitney Houston. Meanwhile, Kevin Costner played former Secret Service agent Frank Farmer, her bodyguard. While their relationship starts out full of resentment and distrust, they gradually overcome this as Frank tries to find Rachelâs murderous stalker.
After the movie became a hit, The Bodyguard went on to become a much-loved stage show in 15 countries including the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, South Korea, Canada, Italy, Australia, Spain, France, the USA, Austria, and Japan.

Is Taylor Swift starring in The Bodyguard remake?
Nothing has been confirmed yet, though Daily Mail claims she is in âfinal talksâ for the role. Of course we will update this article if any official announcements are made. For now, itâs all just speculation.
Hereâs what we do know: In addition to playing small roles in Cats and Amsterdam, Swift has spoken out about potentially directing and making a feature-length film after directing the music video for âAll Too Wellâ with Sadie Sink. âIâd love to keep taking baby steps forward,â she said during an appearance at the Toronto Film Festival. âAnd I think that Iâm at a place now where the next baby step is not a baby step. It would be committing to making a film.â
